Yakuza 3 is a videogame of the Grand Theft Auto variety, in which you control a character who runs around getting into fights. That’s about all I know.
Jake Adelstein is a journalist who spent 12 years on the crime beat in Tokyo and wrote a book about it. In the process he got to know some actual Yakuza members pretty well. Well enough that he got a few of them to play and review Yakuza 3 for Boingboing.net. In brief, they liked it, but said the violence was unrealistic. Got that? Unrealistic violence in a videogame.
What a great idea. I wonder if the Overmind is available to review the new Starcraft.
[Yeah, I favored the Zerg in the original game. Are they still in the new one? Anyone?]
